“What's the bravest thing you ever said? asked the boy.”

“Help” said the horse. “Asking for help isn't giving up,” said the horse, “it's refusing to give up.”

Reviews

“This book is amazing! It’s completely raw and honest. Nothing is held back. The telling quickly draws you in and captures your attention. It’s heartbreaking while giving you a sense of hope and uplifts you at the same time.”

“This book from the start to finish will have you in Awe. The author goes in on his life. Grab some tissue. Makes you think how many others out there also suffered in sliced.”

“The author’s faith in Jesus Christ is on full display and leads the way toward his victory. It’s the comeback story of a boy who never should have suffered what he suffered, yet the very story of his suffering makes him the strong, upright full capable man he is today.”

This book was written with two goals in mind. First, I want men who have experienced sexual abuse to know that they are not alone. Second, I want these men to understand that they are permitted and worthy of seeking all the care that is necessary to heal. Men rarely ask for help when they are struggling with their mental health. Since childhood, society has programmed men to believe that asking for help is a sign of weakness. “Real men should be strong enough to will their trauma away. Ignore your pain, it will fade in time.” This type of thinking impedes growth and erodes a man’s sovereignty.

One in six boys will experience childhood sexual abuse before the age of 18 and, on average, men will wait 20 years from disclosure before deciding to receive help for their abuse.
